NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS have been rocked by the serious injury to former Wigan Warriors star Kai Pearce-Paul.
That’s according to The Mole at the Wide World of Sports who has claimed that Pearce-Paul may require foot surgery and could miss the start of the 2024 NRL season.
The London-born forward only arrived in Australia last week, but Knights chiefs were apparently shocked when they put Pearce-Paul through a series of tests.
“His foot has serious problems and we are still doing tests but at this early stage it doesn’t look good,” a Knights source told WWOS.
“If he needs surgery he probably won’t be fit for the early stages of the season.
“He pulled out of the Test series against Tonga hoping to get the foot right but we are getting reports that he played a lot of last season with pain-killing needles at Wigan, which we are not very happy about.
“Hopefully he can get over it and avoid the knife.
We will just have to wait and see.”
Pearce-Paul’s legacy at Wigan was confirmed in the 2023 Grand Final success over Catalans Dragons.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Newcastle have five months before their season starts.
I'm sure they will have plenty time to sort out Kai's problem.

So Newcastle are saying that they signed a player without carrying out proper medical examinations. Doesn’t say much for their management team. If they don’t want him just send him back to us.

It doesn't sound good if what there saying is true about injecting him up to get him on field. He's a young lad and should have been given time to heal.

Unfortunately, Wigan (replace by any club name here) are only interested in winning, and that involves getting our best players onto the park. KPP was part of our best 17 last year and was rightly in the 1st teamkeptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:35 am It doesn't sound good if what there saying is true about injecting him up to get him on field. he could have picked up that injury at any point right up to the last minute of the GF, and thats the risk any team takes when they sign a player for next season. What are Wigan supposed to do, not play KPP, so we dont upset an NRL team - i'm sorry no they can go and f*** right off IMO. They keep coming back to Wigan to sign players because they know what they are getting so its rich they are now complaining because one is slightly injured

The report says he played a lot of last season injected up. So obviously a serious problem. Nothing to do with him going to nrl Wigan had a duty of care to kpp. And at no point should a players welfare put before any game regardless of importance. Suprised you think trophies come before a young lads careerthe pieman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:53 amUnfortunately, Wigan (replace by any club name here) are only interested in winning, and that involves getting our best players onto the park. He didn’t play most of last season ‘injected up’ it was in the last few games & he said it was a minor injury. He pulled out of the England tournament to enable it to heal obviously it is still causing a problem.

I can only go off what the report says they obviously got it off someone and his club health records. Was definitely not right at the beginning of last season.josie andrews wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:31 pm He didn’t play most of last season ‘injected up’ it was in the last few games & he said it was a minor injury. It's all down to the NRL clubs wanting their own way and a bag to put it in thats all. I mean it's not as if Wigan pinned KPP down to give him an injection for gods sake. The NRL have the best medical teams on the planet if you believe their own hype, obviously not that good though. I didn't hear Wigan moaning when Burgess came over with a dodgy hip we just got on with itkeptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:23 pmThe report says he played a lot of last season injected up.
