Post by the-Bowtun-Warrior »

so what do we think?

will he be a good choice?

i personally think we might benefit form somebody from the outside who's looking in on British RL!

any other suggestion for the role? :doz:

Personally I think he would be a good choice.
In my opinion he was instrumental in building up the team at St. Helens, only for Millward to take all the credit after McRae left.

Don't rate him - there must be better coaches on offer

He didn't exactly set the world alight at the rabbitohs...

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

You can't just judge him on that. Millward didn't set the world alight at Wigan but overall he has a very good record.

By that standard - would you want Millward to coach GB?

I'd agree with that, although remember that Ellery was also at Saints between McRae and Millward and was also successful.

The thing with McRae is that he knows the British game, and always seemed to be one of the more sensible and fair Aussies when commentating on our game. I know the last Aussie we had in charge of GB was hardly a success but McRae's got a far superior record with British players than David Waite ever had.

What worrys me is that the options mentioned are seen as the only ones. Surely the RFL should be head hunting the best coach possible not taking whomever is desperate for a job.
