Luckily, you don't have to spend a fortune these days for a decent amount of light. I ride all through the year, so prefer a good set of lights for winter.

I've got one of theseon my bars:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lumens-Cycle-Bi ... bike+light

They're not the best quality, but the light from them is immense.

I've also got a white pair of these on my forks:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fibre-flare-ult ... ht-single/
and another pair in red, on my rear seat stays.

I've also got one of these on my seatpost, which I set to flashing:

In addition to the above, I've got these on my spokes:

It may seem like overkill, but I don't want to give any motorists the excuse of saying "I didn't see you", should anything happen. It sometimes feels like open season when out on the roads, with some of the motorists (although some cyclists are just as bad and give us all a bad name).

Those frog lights are great for when it's just going a bit gloomy, I'd stick with bigger lights for full dark though. The cree ones are good and I've known people to use them during winter, cross country running races, at night. The reflectors are a bit OTT, but offer a great bit of visibility from the side. The fibre flares are awesome and offer a great field of light for others to see you. They look cool too, which is the most important thing

Took a spill last week, was turning round at the end of a road and didn't notice the mud, I soon found out semi slick tyres are no good in mud, needless to say the bike went one one and i went the other, all caught on security camera, just hope it doesn't go viral

Lol, all part and parcel of the fun. I had a couple of crashes a year or two ago. Luckily relatively low speed and the only thing dented was my pride

Managed my 1st ride for almost 3 months on Sunday after an Achilles injury

did a 12 miler in the afternoon to get the legs going again and then another 4 miles in the evening on the mountain bike

leg feeling good so probably going to do a good ride this weekend if the weather holds out
