Wigan Athletic post losses of £7.7million

Post by josie andrews »

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Just highlights the insane amount of money sloshing around in football as in their "reduced" wage bill is £11.7m. You could pay FIVE RL clubs full wages bill for that and still have £1.7m over.

I wonder how long the new owners will put up with those losses?

Helps if they have fans turning up. I am sure they should be commanding a larger audience now given their success and championship status.

Looks like Dave Whelan jumped ship just in time. A £4 million+ profit to a £7 million+ loss.

Smart move.

Their attendances are only good enough to support a league 1 team at best.Just like Bolton their chickens will come home to roost eventually.
