Yes Mike, Cas have released Rudder but if you were him wouldn't you have insisted that your contract was paid up, for this season at least, thus leaving no room under the cap. :conf: They are also paying Tony, Davies and Robinson and you are not telling me that Bradford had £100k left on their salary cap just waiting to sign the Welsh Wonder as I won't believe that either :o
I thought with loaned players, their 'owning' club still paid their wages, or at least part of the wages,so Robinson might not be costing Cas anything.

As for Spotty Harris, it would be interesting to know where he fits in the 20/20/20 rule. I suspect they might not need to have him as one of the players who, having played at least 20 1st team appearances, have to be paid at least 20k/year or whatever the stupid rule is, as he hasn't played any 1st team games in recent times, he might be on a nominal £100/week with bonuses paid outside the salary cap, or his pay-out from the WRU was such that he's already got all the money he wants from this year's salary (the same way that I don't think Connolly is costing us much with him having already been paid up by Leeds for this season). That's the whole problem with the salary cap: we all know it's crooked, it's not publically available outside the clubs and the RFL so not accountable, and the big clubs will always somehow find a way around it but still the cap exists.

I guess that pay-offs of non-contracted players don't count under the salary cap. Also, they may not be paying anything for Luke - at the very most they will only be paying a fraction of his salary, the rest will be coming from Wigan.

farrel... i always feel he dosn't give back what he is getting paid in performances, until recently, he makes a difference by guiding the team yes.. but for too long now his play had been far too predictable, run up centre channel, dummy , get tackled, now there is a shortage of front row forwards in the club he is comming into his own again.
hard running down the middle, centre, PASSING inside and out bringing a young pack on in leaps and bounds.
he i hope continue this style of play and in a few yers maybe prolong his carrer by playing in the front row, where he in my oppinion will end up.
really exciting, and enjoyable attacking forward display by farrell at the moment keep it up... :D :o :o
Have a read of this! Was thinking of all the idiots that think Farrell is overated when i read it!

I agree with Ian Birchall in 1 way, in the past he has tried to do to much by himself, he did to much ball handling and he just isnt good enough. He was to negative and did to much running sideways. Now he is running and playing like he did when he first appeared in the wigan team. When he runs like he is doing at the moment he is devastating, in the past I have been his biggest critic but now i cannot fault him at all, he has always given 100% but his tactics and style of play were wrong. But he has altered totally the way he is playing and I for one am loving it.

What do you mean by too much ball handling? Keeping hold of it for too long?

You can tell Farrell is well respected by his opponents, even when he was carrying that knee injury last season it was taking four men to tackle him. If you give him runners you have a three man advantage and every chance of finding a gap through to their try line.

The thing that frustrated me last season was that he'd make a run, look to keep the ball alive then not offload it, he seemed extremly cautious, unlike Scully who sometimes offloaded to thin air. This seemed more down to lack of support where lately he's been supported well. I've watched videos of when Faz first came into the Wigan team and it's noticeable that there was always someone there in back-up to continue the move. It might just be me but it seems we are stringing more passes together this season (than last) between tackles yet still going forward (especially against Widnes last weekend) and this makes all the play makers look better (with perhaps the excpetion of Lam where he has shone more in previous seasons). I'm a fan of Farrell purely because without him Wigan are not the same team.

Robjoenz, I haven't seen those vids you refer to but a pound to a penny it was Shaun Edwards backing him up. I still have the contract out on Eric Hughes for getting rid of Edwards, let alone Sean Long

castleford arent botherd about the salary cap!they will spend and spend to stay in super leauge and take the punishment next season,2 point deduction,it seems strange that the very rule they insisted would make the game more even is now going to send them down!and although i like hanley for what he did at wigan i think he is just the first rat to jump the sinking ship!
