if we are to rebuild then lets start with getting some of the youngsters in from the under 21s at least they would be willing to play their hearts out for wearing that shirt

Playing with the heart is a poor exscuse. We tried that for the last 2 seasons and we wre almost relegated when we got injuries. Ok they played with there hearts but were beaten by almost every team in the first half of last season, and just as bad the season before at times.

Weve tried play the kids with hearts. Pity u know we beat Salford, Hull, Quins and Vikings with no real passion and commitment or were we better than them. just as Saints were yesterday.

the trouble is we seem to be rebuilding every year, and never get any team playing together for more than one season.who is going to leave or retire at the end of this season?and we will start all over again.what we need is youngsters coming through to replace those who go.

The most disapointing thing about the game was that Wigan didn't control any part of the game.

Against Hull you could see that they all knew what was going on and played with understanding; Barrett and Tommy controlled things and they had a plan to use short kicks where the players were all running onto the ball.

At Saints any sort of game plan went out of the window. Maybe saints put too much pressure on Wigan, and possibly thats to do with Wigan not having enough speed out of the ruck - which Nobby did say - and also what most fans have been saying when Millard is on the pitch.

I think it's pretty obvious; if we play against a team with an aggressive defence, unless we speed up around the ruck area we will struggle to impose any sort of control or structure on the game. IMO that means we can't play Millard. When he has plenty of time he looks a solid player - but good teams don't give you time.

Also, having a back and a hooker on the bench is a luxury we can't afford. Especially with Feka playing so little game time. Millard has to pick 3 forwards and either a utility player or a quicker 2nd hooker than Millard.

The thing with Saints IMO wasn't the strength of their forwards, it was the number of options they gave themselves in attack.

Almost every play, they put doubt into Wigans defence about who would get the ball. Ball carrier was supported by a number of players - all running onto the ball. This meant the defence hung back and thay made yards on every carry.

When you play that way it makes your forwards look stronger but it's more to do with attitude and aggressive attack than actual muscle up front.

A smaller pack playing in this style would still have put Wigans defence on the back foot.

If Wigan can speed up their play (questions whether Millard can actually do this?) and organise their attack so they support the ball carrier in numbers they will improve significantly without the need for another prop.

Towards the end of last season and we had a run of wins we played like that with players supporting the ball carrier we had several options and thats were our wins were comming from thats what we need to find this year

St Helens are the best team in superleague!!! But on friday they gave us a chance to beat them, if the in-form saints had turned up we would have been severely embarrassed!! Wigans problem for me is not team selection but the amount of penalties Wigan are conceding and the amount of ball we drop! Never seen a team that knocks on as much as we do!! On friday we would be attacking saints line then we'd knock on or try to force an impossible pass, then saints would have 3 play the balls then they would get a penalty, and be on our line!!! From attack to defence on our own line!! Get the players discipline right and stop the stupid passes and the results will come!
