If the ref is standing side on to the kicker, I presume he will be stood near or next to the kicker. If so, how does he ensure the players standing behind him (the ref) are in onside positions. It seems like a knee jerk reaction by Cummings, just to be seen to be doing something.

I was thinking the same thing. Will the ref have to stand on the touchline for a kick infront of the posts?
