I believe thst Stuart is carrying 2 separate foot injuries which are affecting his training preparations (he can't run well) and game performances (he can't generate go forward power because he can't push off his foot properly). Apparently he can't train through the week properly and only gets through games with pain killing injections. Nothing major but it does requires attention but we can't afford to drop him.

Nicola is the problem more that Fielden is expected to be one of the outstanding players in the team, that he is expected to dominate opposition forwards. If you get paid a lot of money, people expect more. They want value for you wages. DV tries hard for example BUT on the money he gets paid, Wigan fans rightly expect and want more.

i understand what you mean, the amount of money he is paid just doesn't match up to the performance which is expected from a player earning the money he does. however, i don't think he should receive his criticism based on his wages though,
don't you think that the differences in wages is the issue then?

Not sure. I actually think he is a very good defender BUT his running game seems all over the place. I think that is in part due to his own style of running and in part due to playing in a poorer team than the Bradford one he played in.

ye he's obviously not going to play like he did for bradford because, like you said, they had a much stronger team than we do

he is a good defender i think he's in the top ten tacklers on sky, but i might be wrong he might be in a different category :S

i also think that given a bit more time his attack will improve more, as it already has IMO

no way was he awful, far from it, and i also see no point in singling out 1 player for specific criticism, when it's the team's display that should be critisised the most

he is definately improving, and to be honest, he was never the worst player in our squad to begin with
That covers it me thinks.
He needs support from a biger pack to be at his best. Its the lack of quality props that is killing him. Teams when Feka is off can cover him with ease as they know Prescott will not hurt them.

Get 2 big props and he will do some damage.

I would agree with that, at Bradford they he played 80 miuntes and they had three other good props in rotation in the other Prop position.

Prescott is working hard but lacks the size and power to drive through tackles, Feka is great but doesn't last long enough.

Although Fielden poor performances can not be blamed fully on other players, if he can't even make meters then he is worth nothing as a forward, I still say his technique is to blame.

His running style is far too upright. I think in his early days he overcame that by thrusting his leg out BUT he then fell foul of referees and had to stop that.
