we need a Cumbrian side before a team from Wales/Scotland/Ireland IMO, after all Cumbria is part of the RL heartlands, and is home to the oldest amateur club in existance, rugby league has been played here for as long as anywhere else

A Cumbrian team could have been in at the outset of SL it meant that Barrow,Whitehaven and Workington merged .This would never happen they all wanted an identity ,perhaps they should have a look how Catalans did it was merged from a couple of French teams.
Perhaps the new club could be based at say Sellafield after all there is a road and rail link from Barrow,Whitehaven and Workington.Biggest question is would the people of the 3 clubs mentioned support a SL team in the area .

...and after all those years, they still don't draw any crowds, or produce any number of top class players. They've had their chance.

We may not always have the support of Sky TV. A vital condition of any team joining SL must be a spectator base of more than 5000 per game minimum.
If Featherstone can attract almost as many paying spectators for a televised game against the welsh as London Broncos, who often have the support of visiting spectators down for the week-end then there is something sadly wrong with our game. WE will never be GB wide game at the top level never mind Euro wide.

Disagree

SL needs to advance in areas it can. Not just stay on the M6-M62 road. South Wales especially Bridgend (Celtic Crusaders) are so angry at the WRU that they have stopped watching the game as they did in that area.

Celtic Warriors went bust as the WRU made no real effort to support 5 regional sides. They wanted 4 and Celtic Warriors was 1 of the 4 before either Llanelli or Cardiff sulked.

With no backing it went bust on the 1st year. Now Celtic Crusaders have a chance to go up and the side is getting all home games on S4C (Digital as well) live. This is a major step for the game in Wales and narrow minded people who want to keep the game in the North will stop all of this. League for the first time in its history has a chance of a foothold in Wales and the owner of the Crusaders knows this.

History is a goodthing but the sides from Cumbria have had the chance to develop go to SL but have not got the backing. Celtic Crusaders have and needs the chance so the game in Wales can thrive.

Union will be the biggest in wales as it is part of the culture in the South but league now can make in roads but wont if the cant come to SL.
