A poser...

Post by Wight Pie »

No, not Sean Long but I'm canvassing for opinions on a moral dilemma so please feel free to hurl abuse and/or constructive suggestions :D

As Wigan have no game on Boxing day I have a choice, I either go for a long walk with Mrs Pie up Parbold way or I go to watch Warrington Vs Widnes with a friend who's a Widnes season ticket holder (we all have our crosses to bear)?

Even though it isn't Wigan I'm favouring the rugby option... your comments please.

Given Widnes should rename themselves Widnes Warriors as they have so many ex-Wiganers in the squad I'd go and have a look and cheer Terry O on - just his once.

It would be good to see how both these teams look for next season anyway.

I seem to recall having a similar thought about 4 years ago on New Year's Day, Widnes were playing Lancashire Lynx so we decided to travel down there. Went in the pub around the corner from the Halton Stadium wearing Wigan colours, and got rather panicky comments from the Chemics fans along the lines of "f-ing hell, we're not having to play you lot today are we?!" I don't think it was worth the travel, the match was rubbish, but we were bored and even NFP rugby was better than no rugby that day!

Even if it was Saints -v- Leigh RL has to be the preference everytime, especially as it's the off season and games are few and far between (at pro-level).

Thank you for your assistance!!

Now all I have to do is persuade Mrs Pie that going to the Geri Halliwell to watch the rugby is better than a brisk post Christmas walk.... I feel that may be more difficult than deciding to go to the rugby :)

Mate, my girlfriend is always banging on about compromise, so do just that, let her walk up an 'ill and you go the rugby! Couldn't be simpler!

Do both, just get up earlier and go for a walk with the wife, then get back and go to the rugby :conf:

Or walk to the rugby match...? Although with all these snowflakes which seem to be falling on this website there'll be far too much white stuff on the ground for walking anywhere by Christmas. Even Santa's getting confused going backwards and forwards across the screen...
