Looks like we'll see a final end to one of the Latics' fans favourite claims:-

Not sure what happens at 9pm though....

So until the 1st of Dec the takeover isn't complete and we remain in limbo.

Lydon confirmed as chief exec ofhte holding company, a position he has no experience of previously being technical director in RL and the 7's boss in RU. They were essentially coaching/player development roles not senior administrator roles. I am not impressed.

No mention of any new signings so far.

I think the Monday press conference will reveal more as regards players etc. At least we now know that Nobby stays in charge, Lydon as expected is the chief executive and the JJB tenure is secured in the short/medium term.

I presume Whelan retains 11% of our club :conf:

The Monday press conference is for Lenegan to outline his position regarding Quins. That will be interesting.

As to Lydon being made chief exec as expected, I for one didn't expect someone with zero experience of being a cheif exec to be appointed to such a role at Wigan.

Doesn't realy matter does it?

A quick look on the Quins website suggests that IL's son will take over as Chairman of Quins, so it's pretty much the same situation as with the Hetheringtons really.

Lydon being chief exec is a strange decision, despite my comments earlier up the thread that he's got some management experience. CEO is a vital role, and we would really want someone with experience of running a major organisation to be in charge. To me it's the same argument that has been made about Shaun Edwards - just because he was a great player for the club, there seems to be an assumption that the individual will be a great administrator as well, although there is no justification for that assumption. Lydon's experience seems to be more operations-based rather than strategic, but we should be looking for someone rather more visionary and forward-thinking to run our club.

I don't think anyone needs to worry unduly about Joe Lydon. Ian Lenagan will be in charge of everything. No decision will be made without his say-so.

As for us being in Limbo until December, it's a matter of whether the glass is half-full or half-empty, isn't it.

From my perspective, we at last know who the new owner is, and he's clearly already involved in decision-making on the club's behalf, as he's secured our tenure at the JJB for the next 47 years and has authorised the retention of Brian Noble as head-coach.

Not surprisingly however, this being a Wigan RL message-board, there are some people who are determined to be unimpressed.

Not sure what to make of that to be honest. Have Hull and Leeds ever competed for the signature of a player? Who gets "first pick"? Questions like this are bound to crop up so it would be far better for him to divest himself of any interest in Quins (as it would for the Hethringtons to concentrate on one club IMO).

If Lenegan Jnr is set up to run Quins than that means 1/3 of the all the SL clubs are owned by two families. This doesn't sound like a good thing to me.

Totally agree. Lydon has never struck me as the dynamic visionary type!
