You think Salford have a good squad - you should see Celtic Crusaders new recruits:

Mark Lennon (Hull Kingston Rovers)
Luke Dyer (Hull Kingston Rovers)
David Tangata-Toa (Hull Kingston Rovers)
Jordan James (Widnes Vikings)
Ian Webster (Widnes Vikings)
Aaron Summers (Widnes Vikings)
Philippe Gardent (Carolina Panthers)
Ben Flower (Bedwas RU)

I think Celtic have a stronger squad than Salford and I think it's a clear battle between Salford and Celtic this year.
I'd like to see both sides getting a franchise actually. As I've said, I'd much prefer Salford to Leigh. I'm not all that convinced about the viablity of the Toulouse application (and I don't think the budget will stretch to 2 or three trips per season to France).

My 14 would be:

Wigan
Leeds
Hull
Bradford
Warrington
Quins
Wakefield
Castleford
Salford
Widnes
Catalans
Hull KR
Celtic Crusaders
+ any one from Toulouse/Whitehaven/Doncaster/Saints/Wigan St. Pats/Halifax/Oldham....

I wouldn't even put Wakefield in Geoff, i'd favour Castleford purely as they have slightly better attendances and are further along with a new stadium.

Wouldn't have Toulouse either it's too early for 2 frogs.

Celtic IN if their support grows average 7,000 and have welsh players coming through

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall

I work in Manchester and often pick up a copy of the MEN (which is free in city centre)- they give a fair bit of coverage to Salford and General RL.

For instance, today they have 3/4 page about Robbie Paul and him becoming vice-captain, with the other 1/4 being a daily column written by a reporter they seem to have sent across to Florida to the Reds warm weather training there.

The Reds are lining up to be a massive force in NL1 this season- new recruits H. Paul, Phil Leuleui (prop), Craig Stapleton (Prop), and a young hb Chris Borghese- to go alongside Haggarty, Fitzpatrick, Littler, Myler, Wilshere and Mal Alker who have stayed on.

I could even see there side holding its own in SL nevermind NL- can see them walking it with only Leigh imo having a shout- Widnes have lost alot of players and I can't see Fax and Whitehaven having enough depth.
They may win it but they are way over the salary cap. I am not sure what it is in nl1 but its only about 400k compared with 1.6 million in super league.

I thought I recognised that name; he used to be in the Washington Redskins squad, as a linebacker! Be interesting to see how well he makes the switch, especially playing for a large part of the game instead of short bursts as they do in the NFL.

That seems a good league. I would like to see them all in SL. And I couldn't afford to go to France to watch two teams from there either. But I think the RFL will give one of the franchises to another French club, it is part of their expansion plans, and sod the grassroot teams :( :(
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
