whilst i also feel optimistic about this comming season after Fridays match i have to question a couple of Nobby's decisions:

1 why did he play O'laughlin IMO he was not 100%
fit.Bailey is a ready made loose forward and Hock
2nd row.

2 Fielden has just recovered from shoulder surgery
is wrestling with Andy Coley and could have undone
the surgery work.

I dont know about any know anyone else but i hope
he does not play players out of position which happened alot last season-ok Richards did well for us
at FB but he is a winger IMO

I feel very optimistic. Having seen most teams live or on tv now, the one team who are clearly better than us are Leeds. I can see weaknesses in every other team - Saints are gettin old, Wire have no defence (and now no full back), Bradford could be very dangerous but I think lack that spark they had when they could turn to Volcano, Fielden or Peacock to get them out of trouble.
With Prescott's emergence and Coley's form, I really like our pack - we have strength in depth. I think Mathers will settle down into a good attacking weapon and am cautiously optimistic that Leuluai will blossom into a class act - he can certainly beat a man...
Finally, before people are too dismissive of the opposition, look what Quins are doing away to Hull - leading 14 nil so far. Cas also ran the Catalans very close, who in turn nearly turned over the in-form Hull KR. It is a very competitive league this year...

but you can't measure quins against hull as hull players are dropping like flies at the moment catalan will be stronger at home than away they have the same problem as new zealand warriors have had in the past the travelling and cas are a bad team not because they was promoted from the nl1 comp but what i have saw from the two games they have had.[/quote]

Lockers is a pretty important part of the team for us - his work in defence often goes unnoticed. I think that's why Noble wanted him in the team.

On the whole we are in a far better position at this stage of the season than the last one, both in terms of points and players.

We have a far more balanced pack, which is still strong when the subs come on - Hock and Prescott off the bench (and probably Feka when Fielden is fit) is a pretty strong forward line up. I thought Hock looked very good when he came on - and looks to have added some discipline (controlling his ball retention and temper) to his game.

Bailey adds alot to the pack. Very effective hard running 2nd row how can also offload. 10x the player he was at centre.

We have a promising new centre - Carmont looks to have good footwork and determination, Goulding will have a great season I think. Mathers is good in attack both in support and in link up play - needs some work on positioing in defence though.

And - Tommy looks to be more involved these past two games than last season.

We are lacking pace on the wings though - that's why I think Calders needs to return in place of Colbon when fit - which is a bit unfortunate/unlucky for colbon as he's done nothing wrong and contributes alot to the team - but 'there's no substitute for pace'!
