Retro Wigan Shirts

Post by pemps »

I know some of you are aware of something I've been looking in to for people on RLFans but I thought I'd also spread the word on here.

Basically I'm looking in to the possibility of getting some retro RL shirts made. The 2 that seem popular are the 85 hooped shirt and the 89 USA shirt. I've found a manufacturer for these (Optimum in Wigan) and now it's just a case of gathering numbers for the shirts.

Optimum. (£40 per shirt)
Hooped shirt. 360g/m2 yarn dyed poly cotton.
USA shirt. 320g/m2 panel stitched poly cotton.
6 weeks for delivery
minimum qty 20 shirts (of each)

All the shirts will be reproduced as near as possible to the originals but using modern techniques and materials. As has been said before, poly cotton is what the State of Origin shirts are made out of so there's no issues with the quality of the materials. Obviously the sponsors that originally appeared on these shirts will not be on due to them still being in business. The same also applies to 'umbro' as it's now Optimum who are making them.

Both these shirts will have the manufacturers logo on the top of the back of the shirt.

The hooped shirt is 3/4 sleeve and the USA is short sleeve as per the original players shirts.

If anyone is interested could they please post on here which shirt/s they'd want and in what size, in inches please. (measure an existing shirt armpit to armpit).

eg.

USA - 46" x1

Hooped - 46" x 1

I'd also like to add that if you're worried about giving a stranger £40, then don't. All cheques/cash should go straight to Optimum.

I am guessing quite a few people already knoe Pemps but for those that do not. He is on the level and as you see from his links he does T-shirts etc which are actually very good quality.

Basically you can trust him 100%
