So how many "quota players can we have now?

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

RFL Board grant exemption to clubs

The RFL Board of Directors have granted the following dispensation, in relation to the rules governing Club Trained Players and the composition of engage Super League playing squads.

The dispensation will mean that clubs will now be able to renew or extend the contracts of any "non-federation players" over and above the current limit which applies providing those players were under contract with them prior to introduction of the Club Trained player rules in June 2007.

However, if clubs chose not to renew such contracts the dispensation would immediately expire and it will also expire at the end of any contract extension(s).

Also it is important to note that this dispensation would not apply to any player who had been contracted by his club after the Club Trained rules had been introduced.

RFL Operations Director Emma Rosewarne commented, “The RFL believes granting this dispensation will maintain the integrity and positive advantages of the Club Trained player rules but at the same time it gives the appropriate degree of flexibility to players whose careers have been fully developed within our professional competitions and have hence contributed to the overall development of the sport“.
