Northern Soul

Post by OAMJSONA »

Northern Soul is "A Way of Life" and will never die

I have been dancing to Northern Soul and to a lesser extent Tamal Motown for 46 years now, what a rush

we go to the Monaco in Hindley 1st saturday of every month and the place bounces , only regeret cannot do back drops any more as my ankles are knackered. We have stopped travelling round as much now but there is still loads of local places to get that never forgotten buzzzzzz.

Does anyone else remember going to the Beachcomber and then later on the Casino

" Keep the Faith"
are you not tired? 46 years is a long stint continuous dance.

I would have loved to have gone to the Casino but the closest for my age etc is in Manchester. Its a good read into the genre and social side of it. A local artist DW Barrow does the paintings for the casino (as seen in grand arcade) i have his email if you want to see his works online.

I have even incorporated wigan rl into it: lol

Shame, but Wigan really does lack a venue like the Casino.

Perhaps touring bands and acts could perform at a new purpose built facility. :doz:

My Favourate is Ellie Warren - Shattered Glass! :)

Al Wilson-snake is brilliant and others i like is The London boys, Requiem & London nights, Cocoon -Timerider
BoneyM - Born To Be Alive
Capella - Heylom Hailb.

Age is just a number
Blummin eck Gem I used to dance on a bar to shattered glass, must have a fortune on vinyl in the attic! boxes of albums and 12 inch singles from that era and earlier wow what a memory jogger :sigh:
