Super League XIII is the best supported ever

Post by butt monkey »

engage Super League XIII has been the best supported season in the history of the competition - attracting a new record average weekly attendance.

The average attendance at the completion of the 27 round regular season is 10,338 per game per week (last season's average at the end of the season was 10,264 per game per week).

It is the second consecutive year that the League has attracted an average weekly attendance of over 10,000 per game

An aggregate total of 1,674,809 supporters have passed through the gates at engage Super League stadia this season.

These all-time record attendances have come in the first season that there has been no promotion and relegation

Please note the 2008 engage Super League aggregate attendance of 1,674,809 (after 27 rounds) includes the 2008 Millennium Magic event but this has not been added to individual clubs' aggregate totals or average attendances

Surprised by that statistic. The game still has plenty too offer and lets hope things get better, especially with the league expanding. Doubt whether Celtic and Salford will boost overall attendances that much though, but you never know.

They're bound to drop the average, to start with, but on the other hand the fact that we're now back to playing other teams only twice should boost attendances for other games.

I think Celtic's attendances will increase a lot when they come up, and they're doing pretty well even in NL1 - they had over 6,000 for a recent home game against Featherstone, for example. I think there's a lot of potential there.
