General Feeling

Post by Woodentop07 »

I might be wrong but I get the impression there is a lot of negativity about next season.
Season ticket prices rising, star players leaving and no big signings yet announced.
At the present time with the credit crunch etc. One of the things people might give up is a season ticket.
I think once our season has ended then signings will be announced but will there have to be a big name to get people excited for next year??
Will season ticket sales be down next year??

Wigan til i die!!

If the club delivers on the pitch all is forgiven / forgotten. You can charge extra and do anything. Unfortunately a season of in the main poor unentertaining RL has made fans more rational and more critical.

aye dont think we will get our 6 next year. 25% rise and a worse team upto now than this.

The benefits you get as a season ticket holder are a joke...they should just leave it as first choice to get other tickets and leave it at that as some of them make me cringe.

I think the club will announce signings after they have finished in this years play-offs (winning at Old Trafford of course  )

I'm not too bothered that prices have gone up, the new Franchise system means clubs have to make a decent profit and Mr Lenagan is making sure of it.

As for the players I have to say I'm very pessimistic. Its not like Wigan are building on a good team they are yet to find a set of players who can play consistently well.

I'm still waiting to see what happens this season because if Wigan lose to Catalans then they taken at step backwards since last year in both the super league and the challenge cup.

I'm also waiting on the off season signings, I can see Noble filling the club with overseas players like he did at Bradford, while it might bring success I think that success will be tainted unless Wigan start getting more representation in the England squad.

We'll be getting our season tickets, definitely. We want to make sure we're in our favourite spot, with our friends.

Whether the team does well or not next year we won't know until we see them play, and I'm sure more signings are on the way - but they aren't factors in deciding about season tickets.

Wigan is my team, I always have and always will support them and go to see them whenever possible. End of story.

I ain't negative about next season! This season ain't over yet and we could still win it. It is a bit of a long shot!!!!

As for next season we have signed Piggy from Ells, Karl Pryce may get a game (he will be like a new signing), Tim smith would have completely settled in and some of our academy lads will step up. Flanagan and sam Tomkins hopefully.

As for more signing....they normal get annocened when the season is finished. Take Hull FC and Mark C. Their season finished then they annocened him. Wire and Micky and carvell. Cas and Hudson shall i cont.....

The only signing that have been annoced by clubs prior to the end of the season are Aus ones. You can't win if you are IL he signs a player people moan that the younger lads go down the pecking order, he signs an Aus people moan he ain't british and he they promote a young people people doubt he is ready!

BRING ON NEXT SEASON.

To be honest if the likes of 'us' stop attending Wigan RL matches then the club will be in dire trouble. We tend to be like Nine. It is the more casual attendees who are the key to whether our attendances go up/down. We seemed to lose a few hundred in 2008. 2009 will be interesting.

The one drawback of all seater stadia, high % of season tickets is the difficulty of dragging along friends to matches. The friend voucher is not really the issue. The problem is you cannot simply turn up and easily accomodate a few friends AND all sit together.

Won't be renewing ours (small matter of a wedding) but will attend all the games we can home and away.

Not being negative but i dont think there will be much money left next season even with Barrett,Calderwood,Higham leaving. We have signed Riddell he would have took Highams wage cant see him coming for less.Pryce will be a Wigan player next season and his money probably from Calderwoods wage,Smith,Carmont,Phelps all came for a low wage last season can see them being on improved contracts as with Mathers.25of the juniors are out of contract and some of the money will be redirected to them.
IL at the fans forum said that we need a prop/enforcer and a winger [Ainscough will do for me).
