Just got back from the barrow v whitehaven game, Lee had a fairly decent game, scoring a very good try with a 12 yard run taking on three of the haven defence, All in all a solid performance with only a few minor mistakes, I can see him coming on strong with a few games here

Flannagan and Goulding have also been offered to Barrow but both said they did not want to go.
Goulding - how come he didn't want to go? An insult to be loaned to a NL1 club?

He may be hoping he gets the Catalan game before commiting himself. It is hard for say Flannagan whose did a long loan stint or Goulding whose had lots of first team games. Joel Tomkins turned down some loan offers. IIRC Noble wanted to send him to Quins and he refused.
Leigh is the sensible loan option for younger players but Leigh seem slow on the uptake. Most loans involve young players training with both the loan club and Wigan. Lee Mossop will be doing a fair bit of travelling going between Barrow and Wigan just for training. He may be a Cumbrian but he's a resident of Wigan now.
Loans are very valuable for players but it is not simple.
Ian Thornley should be loaned out IMO but Wigan will not do that. He may not want it either. The duty of care argument will be used.
There's a limit and it is very small as to how much any player can learn / develop from reserves / academy. After that limit, the player / the club are damaging their development. That is the real duty of care.

There is a salary cap issue to address also if the loan clubs cannot accomadate a player under their cap limit.

There could be a solution but the RL wont allow it instead of players playing in the under 21s .Scrap the league and incoporate to NL2 with more clubs involved league with promotion to NL1 with salary cap limits in place.Otherwise the alternative could be that each SL club is designated a feeder club in NL1 and 4 players allocated to it which do not count on salary cap the proviso being that the said players must play at least 4 games a season for its main club at substitute level or more.This would strenghten NL1 be more competive and give the loan players more experience.

Mossop played well scored a good try,we struggle to attract loans players due to location mossop seems to have the right attitude .
