Not enough time:

Post by GeoffN »

Just out of interest...

Coaches ranked by length of tenure:

1. Jim Sullivan: 20 years
2. Eric Ashton: 10 years
3. Joe Egan: 5 years
4. John Monie (1st spell): 3yrs 8 months
5. Brian Noble: 3 yrs 2 months

the other 25 coaches have all had less time than Nobby.

There's our answer then - bring back Jim Sullivan.
“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."

We treated Jim poorly at the end and pushed him into the hands of Saints where he transformed them into the best team they have ever had.

We made Eric Ashton retire from International RL in orrder to get the captain / coach position

Very interesting and I have taken the liberty of linking to this from rlfans as I am sure there are plenty of people unaware of this who argue he hasn't had enough time.

I wonder what the average "life expectancy" of a coach is across SL since SL came in? Would not be surprised if it was three years or less.

Geoff - perhaps you could add to the table the number of trophies won?

We were robbed in the 71/2 Champuionship Final v Saints. One of the most blatant offside tries ever seen.

I know fans rightly talk about Billy B as the greatest Wigan player etc but truly Jim Sullivan surpasses Billy B by a wide margin given his playing / coaching career combined. How stupid were we tio drive him into Saints arms and build their best ever team.
