I'm not a happy clapper by any means but before the lad had even touched the ball people were shouting and screaming abuse at him. Certainly from where I was sat. People jeered and booed when he went down injured. I think that was a bit unfair and out of order. I don't like it when fans do it to opposition players never mind one of our own!
I thought when Pryce didn't do very well when we were in front of their line the reaction of the fans to him was the same as it would have been for anyone else who did that. Groans all around.

I have some sympathy toward him in that situation because he was given the ball stood still but it just looked poor so the fans reacted. I was frustrated myself but what I don't do at the match is call the player.
I thought it was cruel of Noble to move Pryce to six. He is player clearly low on confidence and very rusty after so long out and just strolling in the reserves and he was asked to play in an unfamiliar position at halfback where he has to be confident to take the line on, organise our attack etc and Pryce does not have them qualities.
It was extremely poor of Noble and I was quite shocked but it is not untypical. When Gleeson is fit I have no idea what our coach will do selection wise but so he can fit certain players into the side I expect Glesson to go to 6 at som epoint in the game.
I think he has been very poorly coached and conditioned. I don't think he looks very fit and after having so long to get into shape you have to question either Mike Forshaw or KP's attitude. (I just look at Darrell Goulding after coming back at Salford and he looks much fitter than he did here.) At the end of the day regardless of the answer the responsibility of the players fitness relies with the players fitness coach and if the player has a problem with this he should not have been given a contract extension.
Some contracts have extension that can be exercised by the club or the player. Mathers was like that I think.
I think an in shape, well coached and conditioned Karl Pryce who has a coach with the ability to motivate him (which he needs) would be devastating. I don't think he has that here.
A loan would have been as good for him as it seems to have been for Mossop and Goulding. The sad thing is though is what that says about our club as regards the conditioning of players.

Sounds familiour, so called fans did the same to Mathers, and now he must be heading for a an England call up. I said at that time Give the lad a chance.
The response which will come in this thread I expect is He is a professional He should be able to take it.
There seems to be an element in Wigan set to destroy and they don't care if it is their own team they are destroying. These are young lads pumped up to play RL. Nothing like deflation them and then saying I told you so,

Jim the majority of the fans want Karl Price to do well this is only a forum and a minority of fans come on here.A fit and strong Karl Price would be an assest to WIgan Warriors. One should ask is his lack of fitness down to the coaching staff or the player himself??????.One thing for sure he is badly unfit Flanagan should have played before him on Friday. When you think that Karl has not played rugby union or league for 2 years at top level he or the coaching staff has failed with his fitness. He should join Feka and run up winter hill everyday like Inga did to improve his fitness. He is a proffesional rugby player it his chosen job he himself should be trying to at least improve himself .Jim he was embarrasing to watch last friday.

You're confusing cause and effect, Jim. We thought highly enough of him at the start of the season to pick him as our sponsored player. We never set out to criticise him; just the opposite in fact, but his performances so far have earned it.

It's how a particular player performs that determines the reaction, not the other way around, and peoples reactions change as the player gets better or worse. Look how the criticism of Riddell & Fielden has lessened since they began to show an improvement, for example.

Defalation? It's poor performances that deflate the fans, not the other way round, whether as a team or an individual.

there is no justification for another contract/extension. this isnt Noble's doing, but Lenegans - if we are believed that brian is leaving come october.

If lenegan then he sees him in or squad building for the foreseeable future.

the embarassment should be on Brian Nobles face,
irrespective of Pryce's recent history here was a player who is not match fit, is not physically fit does not have any appetite for the game and yet is thrust into a SL game against a powerful if not overly skilled side.
How can he as a coach mention duty of care ever again he clearly has no concept of Risk Assessment in relation to this individuals well being

Jim can I have whatever you smoke :D On you basis no player will ever fail at Wigan RLFC and absurdly how the crowd respond dictates success or failure of players. Why botrh having coaches if we the fans make or break players.

Karl Pryce has cost this club far more than fans will ever know or realise. It is up to Karl Pryce and the coaching staff to get him fit enough to play as he can or we hope he still can. It may be that his injury means he never will. Hope not personally.

Success or failure of players has nothing to do with fans.

Mathers was highly critical of the coaching staff at Wigan BTW and where you get he may play for England. Please :D

People who are defending Pryce , have not been watching him this season .
He came on at Salford earlier in the season and was appalling . He couldn`t catch a ball or tackle and didn`t seem to know his way around the rugby pitch , I was embarrassed for him .
He`s had loads of time to improve as in playing for the reserves .
He doesn`t seem to picking anything up or have any enthusiasm , after all he`s our biggest player , but doesn`t run like it .
I`ld love to loan him off to someone , but I can see how anyone would want him

Therein lies the frustration of fans. You have a giant of a man, clearly needing to shed a large amount to make effective use of his physique and as yet fans see no change, no difference and witness lack lustre efforts.

One could even question where is the duty of care in exposing Pryce to first team RL when he is clearly not ready.
