Mick,

I think because I am a gobby so and so a lot of people contact me. I do not know if you/the club are interested and you probably have networks etc but IMO this bloke (Jason Emery) is somebody you should consider linking up with. He's an ex pro. Played in the 80's for Parra and Penrith. His father was on the Parra coaching staff in the early 80's. His career was ended abruptly due to a serious knee injury. He did some years coaching but is now a freelance journalist but he specialises in the youth side of the game. He's out 24/7 watching matches etc etc. He has a fantastic knowledge of players including the stuff that Joe Bloggs like me and other fans never know but are important to clubs. He has a long arm of contacts in Aus and here too. He is also Wigan daft Ian is out in Aus I believe. Maybe he can talk to Jason and see what he thinks about him etc. His email address is;

I have to say I think we are on the verge of something spectacular re our young players. I think we have a few more than one could normally expect / hope with the potential to go places. I just worry they stagnate development wise when they stay too long playing academy / reserve. Not a fan of this duty of care phenomenon but each to their own. Glad to see the loan deals. The more the merrier. More will move on than we keep but if they stay in the pro game at some level then IMO that is real duty of care. I do know that despite what Wiganers think there is a very small number of 'superstars' that will emerge from Wigan junior RL and that we will need to find some from elsewhere in the UK and always need some overseas talent. At the end of the day we are looking for special players to wear the Cherry n White.

Forgot to add. Somebody mentioned the other day that Jason Robinson's son plays for Chorley and looks a chip off the old block.

Hi Mick,

Brutal game. Never seen as much sledging for a very long time from Hull KR it seemed rather than us. We just seem to lack the organiser/brains in the key playmaking positions. Not convinced Tommy at 7 and Piggy at 9 have that in their armoury. The recent form of McIlorum has been very impressive. We seem to flog our guts for a poor return scoreboard wise. No comment needed but dropping Sam T I was like arghhhhhh.

A forum member has made the following post about a player who might be well worth looking at;

Sorry to divert away from this topic slightly, but still on the Under 16 National Final, but of 2009. Broughton Red Rose, a local team about 5 miles from where I live were beaten quite convincingly in this years U16 National final, at Salford, I beleive. There was a 15 year old stand off playing for BRR, who my dad has been conditioning for the past 18 months. He scored two tries for BRR that day, despite the opposition coach placing 3 players to specifically mark this kid. The coach told my old man in person this information after the match. The lads name is Sam Forrester, and he is curently trapping as fast as Greg McNally from Huddersfield. My old man also conditions players at Whitehaven, so knows the low down on Greg McNally. This Broughton lad is seriously worth looking at if there is anyone in the know on this site.

Gutted the win streak ended.

Thlose are just a sample of communication I have had with Mick Hogan. Now don't ANYBODY ever come on here or anywhere else and criticise me for my actions towards Wigan RLFC or whining because I express my views.

I am open and honest with Mick Hogan whomever else re my views. I praise players, the club whenever I can. What was IL saying about scouting. Well I did my damn hardest to get the club to link up with The eclipse (Jason Emery) who is an incredibly knowledgeable RL man. I did my best to give the club a link up in Cumbria with Panchitta Marra's father who knows so much about RL in Cumbria and highlighted a junior.

If honesty is a fault then I am guilty. Maybe others should be. Internet forums are for debate. They are not sterile places like the tedious 18th Man Riversiders WEP letters page in the WEP. You are meant to disagree. I could post a load of lies and pretend all our players are wonderful that we play superb every week. We could all do that and boy what a glorious forum we would have.

It has been said before, but I'd like to add that I agree. Although many do not agree with or like CP's views, he's entitled to his opinions, same as the rest of us. I quite often find myself in disagreement with the guy, and vice versa, but to attack him on a personal level is out of order. Challenge his views, prove him wrong, on occasion be proven wrong, it's called debate, and it's what this and other forums like it are for.
But still burn him, 'cause he is a witch you know.

I used to read, and post occasionally this forum all the time, this is the first time I've been on here in ages, and nothing has changed.

I stopped using it because I was sick and tired of CPWigan's rants and tyrades, I haven't read or posted since the day he was made mod.

Well done CP, you've exchanged a few email's with Mick Hogan. That puts you WELL above me, a mere seal, as you call us.

The above is my own opinion, I played Rugby with a lad CP taught, who was a great fan of him so maybe I'm wrong, but the bottom line is I stopped using this site because of CP. I'm now on RLFans almost every day. Mike, it's a great site and thanks for all the effort you put into it, but it's not for me.

For your information Cp i MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT post every day on rlfans in fact i could not tell you the last time i even visited that site.
If you read my name it is in smalll case the other person using the same name has a Capital M and F in their title.
In response to you allegations yes i'm a friend of mr.b , does not mean i agree with all he says.
Don't slag the riversiders off we do a lot of work to help the club especially those on the commitee. (Which i most certainly am not nor wish to be).
Every one is entitled to their opinion but it seems that anyone not agreeing to your opiniion comes in for a personal berating.
You may be a teacher you may be better off and more educated than many of us on here, however it does not give you the right to belittle and call us.
Kindly have the decency to see me and call me to my face i'm more that prepared to do the same to you.
I await your apology for false accusation regarding me posting on other sites, and suggest before you rant off about someone you actually check your facts.
I also feel quite sorry for any students you have , if you critise them as you do the players they'll grow up with very little self confidence.
As I said previously everyone is entitled to an opinion, but slatin is not constructive to anyone.
Oh and congratulations you have now made sure i don't visit this site either which i used to really enjoy, until your dictatorship.
i follow and support my team even tho sometimes i don't like some of the players or the coaches tactics.
