Mike if you mean me I didn't say child I said my daughter ,she is 23.
One of the jokes (sic) was -
"it's better being black than gay.At least if your black you don't have to tell your mother"
It also didn't go down too well when he started to joke about taking drugs (coke). There was definatly a change in atmosphere when he did.I wonder why that was?

Well according to the wife who is teatotal, disabled & not easy offended what the comedian actualy said was Quote "Id rather be black than gay, then i wouldnt have to tell my mother" i think a lot of what the comedian said has been quoted out of context on here. We had two 16yr old ladys at our table, one of them our daughter, they were not offended, but each to there own moral political correctness. Though i do feel that people who were not there on the night and therfor never heard the act cant really be indignet and comment on what they never heard. Its a bit like TV if you dont like what on you dont have to listen IMO. Not having a go at people who were there and felt offended that is there opinion. All to often things on this site are blown way out of preportion, lots of people make mountains out of molehills IMO

Not really Trotski, two people and their parties felt the comedian was unsuitable. They are entitled to their opinion are they not? I think anybody and everybody else is entitled to an opinion about comedians being racist / homophobic etc are they not?

So thats how many out of say 300 +.
Think this has run its course, its like politics & religion, we could go on all day about it.

Two tables thus far and do their views not matter? Was the comedian racist? homophobic? anti-disabled? From what I have read it seems so which IMO means the selected comedian was a very bad choice for any event linked to a professional RL club. It flies against the standards of the RFL/Wigan RLFC. A simple example Wigan are at the forefront of pronoting Wheelchair RL for disabled athletes. Mocking disabled people is therefore not suitable.
What I cannot fathom is why a joke about drug use should annoy Wigan supporters but racist / homophobic / anti disabled jokes are to be laughed at and enjoyed. Warped would be a polite description.
Criticising Wigan RLFC or saying something that is construed as a dig at Wigan RLFC is considered blasphemous by some supporters but they will happily laugh at racism / honmophobia / anti disabled antics. Now to anybody with a sense of morality something is clearly not right with such contradictions.
Maybe those who went / those members who were upset have a right to their view which to an outside observer seems the correct view instead of being told they should not take a young family member or that well the majority of us found the comedian funny so pull your heads in.
cp you are now just carrying this on for the sake of it. Some people were upset, the majority weren't, leave it at that. They have said what they wanted to say about it and no one is saying they are not entitled to their opinion, in the same token that those who weren't offended are entitled to theirs. Let it drop now for Gods' sake

Let me ask you this. Do you think an official body of a professional club should be welcoming a racist, homophobic, anti disabled comedian to one of their functions?
Do you see anybody officially connected with Man Utd / Man City paying Bernard Manning to do his act at one of their functions? Chelsea or Spurs employing Jim Davidson likewise?
Of course not. Thank God RL is small time. Had this been a football club it would have been sprayed all over the newspapers and TV.
You are very naive Nobbys Girl. You hope to become a teacher. You cannot endorse / participate in anything racist / homophobic / anti disabled. You would get the sack but hey you can say I enjoyed myself I found it funny.
Anybody in a public service, anybody in a professional organisation cannot endorse a racist / homophobic / anti disabled comedian.
The whole point of this damn thread should be the sheer stupidity of employing this comedian. Ideally, those responsible could say we never knew what his act was and would not have employed him had we known as such. Thank God this was a small unimportant media sport like RL.
Maybe people should engaged their brain rather than try to show some miss guided loyalty for a clique of friends.
If something is thrown into the public domain and people offer a view you do not like. Tough live with it or just pretend it never happened. Well done to the 2 members who spoke up. I just hope nobody thinks racism/homophobia/anti disabled behaviour is acceptable and if anybody found that garbage funny they should hang their head in shame.
