Season Ticket Renewals

This happend last year & i asked Mike hogan about this last year as i felt that it was wrong to charge per ticket not per transaction.He said he knew nothing about the charges.It cost me an xtra £7.50 because it was a family ticket for 3.£7.50 is not a lot of money but i did feel like i was being ripped off.

Does it go to Wigan Athletic by any chance?

Well they (or whelan) run the ticket office so i suppose it does

Just been on a web sie about credit/debit cards, it says that if you pay with a credit card you have to pay a charge that goes to the bank/credit card company, (normally set at 2%)

When you make a payment by debit card in a shop then this acts as cash, because normally you can only spend what you have in your account ( not inc over drafts) so then you dont have to pay a charge.

But, if you sign a charge sheet like the one enclosed with the season ticket re-newal then you have to pay a charge set by the retailer/bank if you use credit or debit card.

I would think that if you went to the ticket office in person and payed for your season ticket over the counter with your debit card then no charge would be made. I THINK :conf:

i had to pay £2.00 for 2 tickets for the england v australia match to the ticket office at wigan on friday on the phone,and i did not sign anything

Yeah but they have to process you booking so they charge you a booking fee. Like i said im sure the only way to get around it is to go down and hand them your debit card yourself.

Like i said if im wrong you can go on my free drink list for the first home game along with them two Leighthers jackho and Pedro!!

can anyone tell me why the RFL are selling some tickets for the ENG V AUS match and WIGAN RL are selling some tickets ie the west stand

Whenever payment is made by Credit Card, the retailer is charged a fee by the Card Provider. By this method, the card provider can ensure a profit from its customers who clear their outstanding balance every month. This can be between 1% and 5%. If the retailer wishes to pass this on, I believe they must inform the customer at point of sale. Asda, for instance, does not impose this charge at the checkout as they would simply lose too much trade. However, they will not accept payment for tobacco or cigarettes by Credit Card as the mark up would not cover the charge.

Debit Cards are an entirely different matter. It is the more up to date equivalent of paying by cheque. No charge should be levied for this method of payment because, from a retailers point of view, it is far more economical than handling the equivalent amount of cash. Electronic transactions cost peanuts by comparison. Going back to Asda, it is the reason why they always invite you to take cash on top of paying your bill; it reduces their cash handling costs!

If a charge is being levied, it is probably classed as a telephone booking charge and would perhaps cover the time and manpower to take details over the phone and complete the slip.

That said, it is still a rip off if you are charged per ticket and not per transaction!

And yes, I was a BANKER. Some would argue that I still am!!
