an astutte signing

Post by warriorjon »

think Nick Graham is a very clever signing. Although not having taken much of an interest in his career before now it appears he is just the kind of player that we need to complement Mic in the second row when he returns. Big ball handling wide runner who offloads to his outside players. I would also wager he will be on a much smaller contract than the other overseas players and he will be out to prove his worth as his contract is only for 6 months and no doubt at 28 he will be looking to prove his worth for that last big retirement contract be it with us or elsewhere. at last we seem to be learning the lessons wheen signing players using the head rather than the wallet.

I agree this does seem a well thought out signing. Pity we didn't do it from the start of the season!

However I hope that when all senior back row players are fit there is room for more than just Tickle from the youngsters on the bench from time to time. When fit again Hock deserves game time.

In fact if we get all bar Wilde fit (who is out for the season) it would be nice to see a bit of squad rotation against all but the toughest opposition so the kids come on this season.

I am not saying signing Graham is bad because it will keep the kids out, because I have always reckoned we needed a Furner replacement as the kids are not ready to carry us through the season yet. They do however deserve to be rotated into the squad for their efforts so far.

Mind you we are quite far away from a fully fit squad so the likes of Mark Robers might still find himself on the bench sooner rather than later.
