STUART FIELDEN TO JOIN NOBLE AT CELTIC
Re: STUART FIELDING TO JOIN NOBLE AT CELTIC
To be honest I thought he was unlucky in the boxing, thought it was even.

Very true what you say KW.Kittwazzer wrote:I see what you are saying. Bullies will only be bullies for as long as they can get away with it. Soon as someone stands up to them and people see them for what they are, then they are finished!
Makes sense!!
I have never seen Stuart fielden as a bully on the pitch. After the Bulls beating of Wests in the WCC, like many others I saw a strong, fit athlete, and agreed, as stated in the media, probably the worlds best prop forward at that time.
The two incidents, Mason and the Radford boxing match, showed him maybe not as invincible as he maybe needed to feel he was.
I honestly dont think he can recover from this.
Any thoughts on this guys.

See what happens with Maguire as coach, if there is no improvement drop him to the reserves for a couple of games where in theory he should be the best player on the pitch. A reminder to him that he is capable of knocking defences back might give him some confidence back. Alternatively make him captain for a few games and see what effect that has?Panchitta Marra wrote:Very true what you say KW.Kittwazzer wrote:I see what you are saying. I never saw it Pedro, and as you say, I also heard it was close.pedro wrote:To be honest I thought he was unlucky in the boxing, thought it was even.
I think, when you are very competative, as I believe Stuart Fielden can be, to loose a fight like this plays on your thoughts for a long time, as will the Willie Mason punch.
What are peoples thoughts on the Willie Mason punch.
Was it a good shot on the button, or was it a soft shot against a person not strong enough to take a punch.
I noticed Willie done plenty of backwards steps when Jamie Peackock went at him.

IMO it was a cheap shot by Mason.
Re: STUART FIELDEN TO JOIN NOBLE AT CELTIC
It was sort of, IMO. I thought Fielden had got up after being tackled by Mason and being sledged by him. Then fielden pulled back his right hand as if to throw a punch (you know, like he used to do in Superleague), then Mason caught him with a good right hander right on the button. Fielden went down like a sack of spuds.platt-warrior wrote:IMO it was a cheap shot by Mason.
IMO there should be no shame whatsoever in getting knocked out like that and all the people calling him soft would certainly not do it to his face. Even the best get floored, Was it Richie Woodall that had all but got his fight sewn up and raised his hand in a cocky gesture, then got knocked out by one lucky punch.
IMO, the main factor to Fielden's demise is the loss of his mother, it can take years and years to get over something like that, if ever. It's not softness, it's just some people's nature. Maybe he has lost his desire to play at the top of his game or to be the best prop in the World again, but there are certainly mitigating factors, if that is the case.
Having said that, no one in their right mind would stop playing a sport that they get highly paid for, just because they have lost their fire. Whether we like it or not, or whatever we think about them, they've got to think of themselves and try to secure their futures.

Mason caught him square on the jaw I doubt many of us would have been still on our feet after that. He should have seen it coming though, talk about telegraph!
Was Stu in a fit state of mind going in to that match? Should he have played??
I think Stu has struggled with the record fee/salary move. It's put a lot of pressure on him to perform and he's really needed to lift his game to compensate, something he's not been able to do. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced he's a confidence player. Add to that the loss of his mum, his continual niggly injuries and some serious stick from the fans and you kinda start to understand.
Why would Celtic take him on anything like that kind of money? 100k should get you a top prop, surely even Noble wouldn't be that daft.

surely the only way to overcome this if this is the case is really to floor the next guy to give him abit. im not saying he should floor the next guy thats a little high or.... but who knows this is the case surely the backroom staff would beaware of this and the guy who probabley knows him best bn i think if he couldnt get him back to hes best mm wont maybe he's hart just isnt in wigan things like this i think only one person will ever know the problem

I would have said it was Mike Farrell's job to sort out whatever is in his head!
Re: STUART FIELDEN TO JOIN NOBLE AT CELTIC
Mr Fielden has not been approached by Celtic, He has only just found out when the Wigan club require him back at training. He is as much in the dark about the new coaches requirements for next season, as the rest of the players.
To say he is going to another club may be premature, nobody but the new coach and mr Lenigan will decide that, certainly not Stuart.
The salary cap talk is also somewhat irrelevant, as Fielden is on a contract for one more year, and believe it or not at no time during his career at wigan has he been the highest paid player. work that one out.
