The person who suggested Eddie Waring needs to lie down and have a serious rethink!

Whoever out it in the poll in the first place needs to join them!

Eddie Waring did more to reinforce the flat cap stereotypical dour view of the North and the game of RL than any biased RU journo has ever done in my opinion. He was also blatantly biased.

It should be of a player and given its been the home of the CC for decades it should be someone from the history of the game. Offiah and Edwards are too involved in sport now for them to be considered so Boston it wold have to be.

Partly I know what you mean.

But in reality he did more to make people aware of Rugby League than anyone else has ever managed whatever your opinion of him.

Well bobby moore is there because he was captain of an iconic moment in sport history - 1966 world cup. If we are going for iconic moments, offiah it has to be but a statue on its knees is a no goer.

Edwards won it 9 times didnt he? Boston won it 3 but IMO, although great, edwards has had many iconic moments.
