What really makes it worthwile bringing in a developing club is:
"As a developing club, the Crusaders will be allowed to sign up to 14 overseas players for 2010."

Harlequins: a club situated in London, the 2nd biggest city in Europe. attendances: 2500-3000

Any RL fans in the area are probably already supporting a SL team or the likes of Widnes. If they can get some good home wins, then maybe the support will grow, but can't see them having any better results than last season.

I dont think away fans will bolster anything. Of course the first year, the club will have 'decent' attendances, being new people want to go and see what it's all about (catalans, stoop, bridgend). The only decent following will come from us, saints and warrington and then that will be 2000 tops.

I reckon they will average 2-3000 and mid-way through the seaosn, the footy backers will want to withdraw, leaving the RFL to pick up the bill for the remainder of the season. The club will fold before 2011.
This is a Paris style mistake. There is no rugby league base in North Wales and parachuting a team into an area with no grass roots has been shown to fail time and again. South Wales is the only viable area for a SL team and we haven't had the guts to support the club through a difficult period, we've just chased the short-term money again. Wrexham have no commitment to RL and will drop the club as soon as they realise that their 10,000 crowd are not going to materialise. After all, they must expect to make money from the club, and when has that happened recently? Even Wigan don't make money.
I'm all for a South Wales SL club as I thnk that will work, but as Catalans have shown, you have to give it at least 3 years. I'm sick of clubs taking decisions based on underperformance in the first season. Gateshead was a massive opportunity missed by short-termism, even though their owners said they were commited to 3 years and then bailed after one.

makes me so mad, the rfl save london and now let wales do watever they need to keep afloat. Yet other teams in the heartland of rl have been allowed to go to the wall and into oblivion,.just not right or fair. if they can't hold their heads above water goodbye and let widnes or someone else up.
