Get rid of scrums my ....

Post by cpwigan »

Mouthy Millward and some others have been campaigning to get rid of scrums. How great was it to see Wigan push Saints off the ball today and Lockers to break downfield.

That was fantastic and led to the first try. Teams should definately try it more often because it does work.

It was a good move, but even Stevo was crying foul at that one.

Get a grip Sky. Give that pair of clowns their P45's and get some decent commentators in.

Saying that though, in comparison to the subscription I pay each month to Sky, those reactions today by Waldorf and Statler were priceless. :badg: :badg:

I think it led to the second try, scored by Feka
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I had a debate in the eighties with Graham West, I said there wasn't any need for a specialised hooker any more because the scrum wasn't being played as it was originally intended, that is round about the time when the scrums started to change. He replied, it was being changed to make the game faster. Fair enough.

I think we had a cracking hooker today in Feka

It wasn't one of Maguire's tactics... the players came up with that move themselves, according to MM's GMR interview...

Just shows in a way that new ideas from a coach lead to players actually going away form training and thinking of moves themselves and implementing them.

More please.

Did you note how they started saying "We need to-------- " when refering to Stains.

The best coaches listen to and give the players an opportunity to contribute. Monie did so and would let Greg / Edwards work their own ideas out and if they were good he would use them. Mnie learned from Jack gibson. Gibson was the master coach and he asked a young U23's coach if he could use his set plays with the first team. The young coach was Monie.

Madge is cut from the same cloth. We are so lucky that IL saw sense and appointed Madge.
