Pack size

Post by doc »

I got the metric figures off the player profiles on the official site and converted them to pounds, shillings and pence measurements. 16 1/2 stone allthough not big for a prop is average and not bad if you want a mobile pack.

I was surprised how heavy Lockers is but this does explain the ease with which he stops what appear to be much bigger players with so much ease.

The younger forwards who have just come through this seasom obviously will bulk up over the next few close seasons.

Phelps 178cm/89kg 5'10"/14st

Sean O'Loughlin has always been very strong, even as a school boy. As regards his weight, helping him to swat off other players, I think it's more to do with technique.

Roberts 6'4", never. I've been next to both him and Richards in the players lounge and Pat looked to be about 4/5" taller.

Is Sam really 5'11"?

not too sure about that but it says Sam is 14 stone on Sky when he scores so not sure where they get their figures from but bearing in mind me and my dad had a good laugh when for a few months they had Rob Burrow as 5 foot 11.5. As for Amos I can't see him being that tall but it matches what they have on Sky for him.

Expect alot of the weights to increase in the off season!
The first full off season with Mark Bitcon!! When the Scotland RU team were preparing for the last world cup, each player put on an average of 7 kilos in 2 months!! Bitcon was in charge of strength and conditioning!
We could have a monster pack next year!!

Several questiosn for me:
Is Lockers really as big as out props - Fielden & Coley
Is Joel that light - only 15 stone

There is scope there there to put some decent size on a few people's frames - Prescott, Mossop, Joel, Harrison Hansen- even a little on Fielden would not hurt and still should keep them mobile.

Have always worried about Emaon been too small for a super league prop (his heart is massive) and dont know if we can put the size on the small frame

Regardless of their accuracy, I think the ideal size for a player/pack is an interesting debate. Shaun Wane bulked up to play prop and was pretty effective but often injured, and I think this could be O'Carroll's fate, sadly. Lima and Hoffman are big lads, as is Hock, so this time next year we'll be plenty big enough, especially taking account of the lads still filling out, like Mossop and (I hope) Prescott.

Size is over rated (no silly comments) especially in the modern game where agility is so important. You tend to find many big players just cannot cope with the demands of the modern game with players Like Graham and Burgess being few and far between and increasingly back rowers being converted into props al a Morley and Peacock. Fans tend to be more obsessed with size IMO.
