HOCK OR FARRELL ?????

If there was only one player we could have next year who would you choose, Hock or Farrell for the team?

At this point it would have to be Farrell for me.

Coming back from a 2 year absence, Gaz is very much an unknown quantity. Faz has proved his worth already and as he is still a pup, can only get better with more experience!

I think we shouldnt ignore the fact we now play very differently to when hock last played for us.

Hocks biggest attribute arguably was his offload game, Wigan do not play an offload game ala leeds. If you look at the stats for 2010 Wigan only had 1 player (Joel Tomkins) in the top 25 offloaders and he was 9th.

Wigan play fast hands passing and quick but safe rubgy out wide. Hocks handling was sparadic at best but im sure that could be improved by MM.

I think Farrell suits Wigan better at the moment, but id have to see what MM could do with Hock, he's improved pretty much every player bar the lost cause of pryce, Hock stood out in old teams but was inconsistent and it was a different stle of rugby back then.

I guess only time will tell on this one

Pointless question. Every club needs 25 class players so on that basis it is never an either or question. You need both. Ultimately, I think Faz best position is loose forward but he will have to bide his time to get that spot.

I daresay it will be Hoffman / Hock vying for the left second row spot or perhaps Hock will play as a prop if some people are correct.

The big point is that we now have;

Fielden/Coley/Lima/Prekky/Freddy O'C/Davies? Hock? for prop
Mickey Mac/Tommy Lu Lu for hooker. My wildcard Tuson?
Tomkins/Hansen/Hoffman/Hock/Farrell/Tuson for second rower
Lockers/Farrell for loose forward

That is AWESOME strength in depth and something we will need in 2011

For the future? Greg Burke is one to watch out for / Logan Tomkins / Carberry for hooker Make or break season for Molloy - Loan/Lease? Big season in terms of development for Dom Crosby and Tom Spencer

On form and all players fit I dont see a better Pack squad in Superleague, (even though my choice would still be to have Paleaaesina at Wigan).

Farrell. Complete no-brainer given Hock won't have played for two years and there is the risk he may not fit in with Madge's coaching regime and the ethos he has engendered with the squad. Farrell clearly does fit in and obviously his form is very good.

Farrell has had an awesome season and well proven his worth in the Wigan First team.
Although Hock will have had two years out and may not fit into McGuire's coaching regime, he may well be a gamble.
However, if he proves people wrong by adopting a true training mentality and playing every bit as good as he was at his best, who would we all chose then.

Spot on Eccy. Even more frightening. We just have so much strength in depth in the forwards that we can rest players whenever they carry a slight injury and/or every one that gets selected knows if they do not play up to the mark they can be replaced the following week.
