Any contacts in Aus Rugby League?
Any contacts in Aus Rugby League?
As part of our push to become bigger and better as a Rugby League club I've had an idea of sending some of our younger lads (20/21) across to Australia on sort of an exchange programme for a year to play Amateur RL out there, I cant find much on google about the Aussie Amatuer game wondered if anyone knew anyone across there?

There was a bit of discussion about sending player to Australia in this thread.
Australia have an U-20 league called the Toyota Cup which is probably more competitive than the UK U-20 because they don't really have a lower league system and there are more young players around in their academy system.

I'm actually on about more of an amateur level, just to give the lads some experience playing overseas and developing their game and possibly exchanging them with some Australian players for a year, as good as these lads are I think the Toyota cup would still be out of their league at this moment in time, I read in Barrie Macs autobiography that he went across there for a year and worked as a labourer, something like that would be spot on.

AFAIK ? There is no Nationally organised amateur group.
It's mainly at State level.
Try the state league section of the ARL website
Here's the VRL contact

RLCM is a resource every amateur club / coach should tap into. Fantastic articles by the very best in the sport. If you subscribe then you got all manner of past issues, one offs on a CD Rom.
RLCM run an advertising page / sectio where clubs / players advertise for exchanges / vacant positions.
Tony either individually or as a club subscribe to RLCM
I do not work for them BTW but I subscribe
