Interesting facts; psychologists Mark Frank & Thomas Gilovich found evidence that people have strongly negative reactions to black uniforms. All 5 black-clad teams in the NFL received more than the average penalty yards in every season but one between 1970 & 1986. They found a near perfect field trial in the 1979-80 season of the Pittsburg Penguins. For the first 44 games the team wore blue and averaged 8 penalty minutes per game, but for the last 35 games the team wore a new black uniform. The coach and players were the same and yet the Penguins penalty time rose 50% to 12 mins. per game.
Does anyone have any facts to corroborate this theory when Wigan wore black?

Psychology surrounding colours is a huge subject.

All sorts of retailers, restaurants, clinincs etc, use colours in varying ways to attract their target audience. Could be that there is some inbuilt prejudice against a black kit. Wonder if the All Blacks have suffered more than the other raras.

As for Wigan, hope it doesn't affect the ref in WCC.

It is rubbish though. Just can't get to like it one bit. Hope we have to play in the away shirt at Wembley, or better still, we get a special one off that has Cherry and White hoop shirt, white shorts, cherry and white hoop socks. There also should be a star for each time we've won the challenge cup.
