How do rugby union clubs generate enough income to cover the salary cap?
Will the changes have an impact on rugby league?
Does the RFL need to rethink their approach to the salary cap?
Is this an issue for RL

In the discussion/argument between Stuart Barnes and Stevo, Barnes said clearly that RL had a hundred years start on the rahrahs and so it was natural they would adopt a good few of RL's better ideas. This particular one has been mooted as the ideal, if you have to make use of a salary cap.
As for RU finding the money, the star players in France are getting contracts approaching division 2 contracts at football.
I'd say a rethink by the RL is way over due, otherwise we will be seeing the very best players from Aussie and British RL joining RU.

If the Salary Cap is to be based on the fanbase of Club Rugby Union only, then they are in no better state than Rugby League.
Its only if the international side of Union is allowed to subsidise the club game then they can enforce a stronger cap surely.
The GB Rugby League lacks the management and core skills to organise, advertise and present our game to move it forward.

We also lack the ability to beat the Southern Hemisphere teams in a major competition, and until we start doing that on a fairly regular basis, the fan base of international game will not increase.Panchitta Marra wrote:If the Salary Cap is to be based on the fanbase of Club Rugby Union only, then they are in no better state than Rugby League.
