Exactly my thoughts. He is a shrewd businessman, a Wigan lad and a Warriors fan. When he has gone public in the past, he has not disappointed. Lest we forget, he foisted an unknown, unproven assistant NRL coach on us 2 years ago and boy did we moan!

Leave him to it sez I. He has yet to disappoint! :)
:eusa2: It is only natural that we all want to know what is happening but I have to agree, IL has not let us down yet so In Ian we must trust (Not a statement that would ever have passed my lips between May 2005 and April 2006 when we had a very different Ian in charge)

Officially we can't sign English players for next season until September so IL is not in a position to announce the signing of any homegrown player. He could, however, be recruiting from Aus - but even if he has got someone to sign on the dotted line, why would he risk upsetting the team at such a crucial stage in the season by making a public announcement?

Presume that rule does not apply to overseas players. Seem to have been one or two names banded about for players from Oz going to other super league teams and of course our present coach has sorted out King for his new team for 2012

Is that a guess or a fact?

Maybe we have already recruited! On the other hand perhaps we are not recruiting at all!!
When Mr Lenegan took over the club & held the first fans forum at the Deanery, he promised to keep the fans informed of everything that was going on at the club unlike the previous regime!

That soon fell by the wayside :(

We get rumour & speculation from all avenues but never get anything concrete from the club until it is "old news" that they eventually decide to tell us tell us which we have already found out for ourselves through other means!
I think the point which is lost on most people who say we don't need to know is summed up in the last paragraph above. We are the last to know. It's happened ever since IL has been here. It started with the Higham situation (was he going to be allowed to earn a new deal, was Newton coming back etc). It carried on with the Hock situation where the club promised a statement after the ban was confirmed and none came. We had two years of speculation over his future. The coaching situation with Noble was handled just like this one with Madge/Wane.

We only seem to get to know when IL's hand is forced by outside organisations such as other clubs making announcements.

I agree with what someone else said on another thread the gist of which was club sees us as a difficult and unreasonable set of people who have to be tolerated as opposed to part of the club itself. Maybe that is an unreasonable view for me to take but its based on how the club handles the PR with the fans. Mick Hogan had it right and he would respond to fans and seemingly had a good perception of when to chip in to keep us happy. He may not have been able to say much on occasion but that is far better then deafening silence.

At the end of the day whether people like it or not IL only speaks when the outcome is in his control and a concrete certain, not to come out and speculate or say what stage its upto etc etc

IL will make an announcement like, OK it is now comfirmed and we have signed Shaun Wane as head coach for x amount of years.

IL will not make an announcement like, OK we are nearly there we want Shaun Wane but we are still discussing pay and a few other terms but we are convinced he will sign.

Bottom line is its his club and to be fair its under his tenure that we are re-seeing success.
The last lot may have been nice and told the fans what they wanted to hear but thats in the past we should all learn to get used to the way things are, however frustrating it may be!

I don't think he does. He would like to do that but I reckon Madge going to Souths only came out because Souths were going to announce it.

That is not what is expected or what is the issue with the lack of anything on the new coach. With the coaching situation the fact there isn't an announcement of who the coach will be suggests we have not go the coaching situation for next year sorted out. That's what is getting to people because we all know its important for players considering coming to the club to know who the coach will be.

The usual response to that is we probably have got the coaching situation sorted and potential new players will be being told who it is but I think this is bollocks to be honest. If IL knows, the players know and potential players know it would have leaked out by now. It would also mean we are last to know again!

If we have got the coaching siltation sorted there is no reason not to say so as Souths have done with Madge.

It was concrete so he controled the release to the media!

So what are you expecting? ?ome one to talk to, ring a friend! How many times do you have to see Wane is favourite to succeed Madge! If contracts are not sorted why talk about it!

Obviously the finer details are not sorted.

Maybe Mo was too soft to fan pressure!

Im not agreeing with how its done now but us having a moan wont change anything his system may be frustrating but it works for him and his company.

But it kept the fans happy! It might not have turned out as he said but there would be an alternatives most of the time.

If it works for him and his company and not the fans his company may suffer. It's a poor company that does not take customer (fans) views on board.
