New halfbacks
Re: New halfbacks
Youngsters always add enthusiasm too and with several on paper easier games in the latter part they prevent complacency. Youngsters are great if you can dip theitr toes in, pyull them out etc, they just dont stand up to being flogged every week.

I'm all for giving our own youngsters a chance. If we have home grown talent let's see it used properly. You are quite right that they bring enthusiasm to a team and I'm all for that.

We tried that a few years back with Robinson and Brown and when it started to go wrong the Wigan fans were soon on their backs.wiganwarriordave wrote:After seeing what Foster/Lomax and Gaskell have achieved in the Stains squad this year, i'm all for giving the young guns a go. Certainly don't want another Tim Smith episode.
Re: New halfbacks
When Wigan had Brown and Robinson they didn't really have any experience to fall back on. No matter how talented a young player is it is a big step up to Super League and I doubt any of them could play consistently to their best for a whole season in their first season.
The way it should work is that when you know a player is leaving you should gradually start to replace that player with a youngster. If all goes well the youngster should make it a permeant position but you always have the experience to fall back on if needed.

When Wigan had Robinson and Brown they also had lots of issues, the club is in a different place now so it is a different scenario, incidentally even now I dont think Robinson is good enough!

Said it before but, I think Chase would be an excellent addition.
