WIDNES have signed Samoan international Patrick Ah Van on a two-year deal as their recruitment drive for Super League 2012 continues.
Ah Van joined Bradford Bulls at the start of the current season and the 23-year-old also has extensive NRL experience, having made more than 50 appearances for New Zealand Warriors between 2006-10.
Equally at home at full-back, wing or centre and blessed with an impressive goal-kicking ability, the versatile former Junior Kiwis captain will be a valuable addition to the Vikings squad upon their return to the top flight.
Head coach Denis Betts said: “Pat will add a tremendous amount of power and size to our back line and we’re delighted to have secured his signature. He’s a proven try scorer at both NRL and Super League level and at 23, he’s a young player whose best years are most definitely in front of him.
“Another of his qualities is his burning ambition to succeed in the game, a desire which mirrors that of our own at the Vikings.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
