Agar to leave Hull

Richard Agar is set to create a Super League coaching vacancy at Hull FC by making a surprise move to Wakefield Trinity to succeed John Kear next season.

Agar is understood to have rejected a new role as director of rugby that has been offered by Adam Pearson, who is keen to install a new coach after completing a takeover in late July.

Agar's move would leave both Hull's Super League clubs looking for a new coach for 2012. Hull KR confirmed last week that Justin Morgan will leave at the end of the season – possibly for Castleford, who also have a vacancy after confirmation that Terry Matterson will leave.

Kear is also in the running for the Cas job, and may also be considered by Pearson for a return to Hull FC, who he led to the Challenge Cup six years ago – their last major trophy.

However, Brian Noble, the former Great Britain coach who has also been considered by Castleford, may regard Hull as a more tempting opportunity.

Noble's former club Wigan also have a vacancy with Michael Maguire returning to Australia at the end of the season and although Maguire's assistant Shaun Wane remains the strong favourite to be promoted, Iestyn Harris has now emerged as a strong contender to be appointed his assistant after the Crusaders, his current employers, withdrew their application for a Super League licence from 2012.

That's awful news for Wakey. If Agar couldn't muster up some silverware with the squad he had, what's he gonna do at Wakefield?? He is a God awful coach!

However, for Hull this might be a real blessing. They might get a decent coach now who could see them challenging. Any thoughts on it could be Josie?

There are about five coaches jockeying around looking for the best options for next season. I think they'll all wait to see if Smithy jumps ship at Dire and tries to re-float a sinking Leeds. Then Morgan will lead the chase for that job, Agar and the rest fill in the other Yorkshire jobs, leaving Kear out in the cold, Maybe as assistant to Ray French....... All pure conjecture of course, just an idea I had walking home last night.
