HULL FC are set to appoint Wests Tigers and Australia assistant coach Peter Gentle as the successor to Richard Agar.
Following today's confirmation Agar will leave the club at the end of the season, the Black and Whites have announced new director of rugby Shaun McRae will begin the process of finding a new head coach.
However, the Mail understands that process is almost complete already, with Gentle set to be confirmed next week.
Regarded by many as one of the best assistant coaches yet to be poached for a head coaching position, Hull look set to act swiftly in appointing Agar's successor.
Gentle had been linked to the available position at Hull Kingston Rovers, but it is understood that no talks were held between the two parties.
Agar is now widely expected to be revealed as Wakefield coach for next season.

Gentle to be named new Hull FC coach
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
