Wigan should have played Warrington... the winner to the GF the loser to a GF playoff... let the other 6 teams battle it out for the right to play Wigan (or warrington)

But why use that concept when there are other, much more complicated ways of structuring the playoffs. The GF and playoff concept is just marketing, pure and simple. The allure of the CC is vastly diminished now and it's seen almost as the League Cup is, in football. ie, a minor / nothing competition, by the RFL and seemingly Sky, which is understandable, if not annoying, because they have nothing to do with it.
