If England win the RUWC and Ashton scores the winner...it could be sooner.

Unfortunately I can see Sam going to Union at some point but not quite yet. Everything that he has said of late has indicated as much. However I actually think it would be a really bad move on his part as I dont think that he would be suited to the game.

However from what I have been told Joel is as good as gone.

Has anyone heard whether this Sarries deal is for both Tomkins brothers, just Sam or just Joel?

If we lose any of them Mr L has got some major shopping to do for next season.

Completely agree. It would teach the Leeds fans a lesson in how to appreciate the RL game as a whole, if i was Sam i personally would not pull on an England RL jersey again. It will also serve as a wakeup call to the RFL that their salary cap with regards to home grown talent is antiquated and choking the progress of SL. Add to that, from a personal/financial standpoint, Sam would be able to retire on the back of it. Its a no brainer. At best, if he sees out his days as an SL player he will need another career to fall back on (alla Rads, Coley). Which after putting your body on the line for club and country i think is ridiculous. If there's one sport where i think you deserve early retirement, it's RL.

Edit: Just to clarify, i would be mortified if Sam left, he would be a huge loss. Can't say i'd blame him though. I'd blame so called England fans and the RFL cronies.

Couldnt agree more.

Yawnion, what could possibly attract a player of sams ability to this sport?
Moneys not everything,at least for a few years.
Once sam studies yawnion he' ll realise he ll only get a few touches per game.
I think hed be mad to switch codes

Unfortunately, i think it is. I can't remember the exact figures, but i'm sure when we lost Ashton to Northampton we had offered him an improved salary of circa £60k, and Northampton had offered £200k.... I'm sorry, but i challenge anyone to turn that sort of payrise down. It's the difference between retiring at 35 and retiring at 50...

Ashton was offered nowhere near 60k in fact it was less than a third of that amount and that was why he left.
