Re: Leigh RL

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

and the council will welcome back the football club with open arms eh.

Very sad if they fold... we shall see how the RFL will 'help' them. Hope they do they pumped alot into the lost cause of Welsh RL at the highest level and London is getting worse.

It looks like bad news doesn't it! The thing I don't understand is they weren't in for a license so surely they had some long-term plans in place?

Highlights the over reliance of lower league clubs on individual backers. They go and the club is under threat. Look at Oldham and Blackpool in the last couple of years.

Sadly Blackpool couldn't survive but Leigh has a history and heritage that should find enough support to ride the storm surely?

I'm guessing they don't get much financial benefit out of LSV though...

It would be incredibly sad if Leigh were to fold. Hope the RFL can step in, or someone can at least. Good Luck LeighRL hope you ride the storm

Arthur Thomas invested what he had, too much really but his business hit bad times and his health suffered so he had to pull out. Nobody seems to want the opportunity which seems a shame as the cost is not huge when compared to say football.

I do hope Leigh survive.

CP, the costs may be low, but the returns are even lower, especially out of SL. You could run the lowest costing club around and never get a penny back. Its a shame but the way it is, you need to love the club and the sport to invest long term really.

The best outcome for Leigh would be someone buying both the club and the LSV and puttng them as one company. LSV must have potential to make money!

Well if Leigh go bust... the council effectively kicked out the football team (play now next to my home in Atherton) we'd have a redundant stadium that we pay for, ultimately. Probably make another supermarket... Leigh only has 5
