Castleford Full Back Batters Santa

Post by butt monkey »

I just read this story and thought I would share it.

Initially an internal hearing was convened regarding Richard Owen and an as yet undisclosed "Breach of the Club's Code of Conduct"
Castleford Tigers can confirm that the club Disciplinary Panel today (Tuesday) considered a complaint by head coach Ian Millward regarding a contravention of the club's Code of Conduct by first team player Richard Owen.

The player acknowledged that a serious breach of the code had occurred and the panel agreed appropriate sanctions which for reasons of confidentiality will not be revealed.
Then read that the same player is currently under a Police investigation regarding an assault on Boxing Day
The club is also aware of a recent incident involving the player that is the subject of other investigations. This matter will be considered by the club, if required, when the appropriate authorities have determined this issue.

Neither the club nor the player will make any further comment at this time.
Castleford Tigers full-back Richie Owen has been arrested and bailed in connection with a fight involving men dressed as Santa.

The Guardian newspaper reports that Owen was held on suspicion of assault following the alleged incident where police were called to a report of men dressed in Father Christmas costumes fighting in Beastfair in Pontefract's town centre shortly after midnight on Boxing Day. A man was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw.

I'm quite amazed how apparently "silent" all this has been from the RL press, especially considering if he had been a Wigan player he would have been hung, drawn and quartered already.

Is it one of those moments where he was giving it the big I am! act? Because he's a rugby player and has muscle? Seems to be a common problem in League at the minute.

Off the subject sorry, but great picture at the bottom of your posts Marc, Olivia is gorgeous :)
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
