Ways to get to the JJB

Post by Dorsey »

Could some of you local guys or girls please advise if there is a better way into the stadium from the Ashton/M6 direction? We normally come off the M6 and go down the road past Sainsburys and bear left at the island and crawl along that road for ages. Is there an alternative route from that island that we could take to bypass some of the congestion??? Cheers

You could go up through winstanley and around the back way to the stadium if you turn left straight after coming onto that roundabout after sainsburys, but I dont know whether you used to live here or not cause otherwise id probably just confuse you. Its an extra ten minutes but theres no traffic, theres a few different ways. Could you not come off the motorway at orrell?

Thanks Mrs Lam, sadly I've never lived in Wigan - if you could give me some street names it would be great, I can always follow them on a map just never chanced it before cos so many streets are one way which doesn't always show up on maps and getting to JJB lately has been a nightmare if you get delayed along the way and I don't want to miss a minute! Why not come off the motorway at J26 (M58 or M57, I always get those two mixed up) instead of J25 and then come down the Orrell road? It's a bit slow up there when we play the Stains, but against other teams it's just the traffic lights you need to negotiate. At the end of there you get to the same place and turn left past Asda, it's much faster than the Ashton road in my experience.

Dorsey, E-mail me at pieeater@blueyonder.co.uk and I will give you two different ways from that junction. I live right there and believe me I know exactly what you are saying!

Hi

Yeah, J26 is by far the best way to get to the ground. J25 takes about 25 mins from the motorway,
J26 takes about 5!
