Hull KR: Rest before Wigan as Sandercock hopes for fully fit squad

Post by josie andrews »

CRAIG Sandercock is hoping to have a fully fit Hull KR squad to choose from when they return to Super League action.

The Robins coach will hand his players the weekend off before they face a testing trip to Wigan on Friday, May 4.

His side has secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season on the back of captain Ben Galea and stand-off Blake Green's recent returns.

And with centre Jake Webster and prop Ryan O'Hara both expected to be available to face the Warriors, Sandercock is hoping to select his first choice 17 for the first time this season.

"It would be nice to have a fully fit squad to choose from," Sandercock told the Mail.

"Wigan are a class side and they have one of the best players in the world at full-back in Sam Tomkins.

"If we have our best team to choose from at least you can have a good go at it."

Sandercock has a fortnight to prepare for the Wigan game and intends to rest his players this weekend after a difficult start to the campaign.

Webster, who has been out with a hernia injury for the past month, is the only real injury concern, although he should be ready to play given the rest.

"At this stage we'll probably give the players the weekend off to freshen up," said Sandercock.

"A lot of them have played a lot of football and there are a few players with niggling injuries, like every club I suppose.

"I think it'll be advantageous for the boys to try and have some time off.

"When you have a week or so off, it's always good to go in with a win.

"There's nothing worse than stewing on a loss for a couple of weeks.

"It was important that we put in a decent performance."

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
