Post by MrDave »

A new Rugby League game for Xbox-360 and ps3 has been announced today. The game is being made by BigAnt the people who made the original Rugby League Live game.

I just logged on to post something on this exact same topic... Albeit from a different link. Can't wait. RL games are in short supply. "Rugby League 2" the last one i had on the WII was pretty good. The graphics were shocking, but playability was ok. I mastered kicking 40/20's with Sam T on it too ;)

I would love a RL game for my PS3 but the ones in the past have been garbage.
I seem to remember that Johah Lomu's rugby for the original playstation was ok but it seems that Rugby of either code isn't easy to mechanise into a good game.

Here's hoping cos I'd love it.

I agree to an extent. RL2 was a bit like that. Defending was difficult and you spent a lot of the time scrambling after line breaks. Also, the hardest thing attacking was getting the ball from a POTB to pass back, behind a blocker to a standoff/scrum half. It used to always do a flat pass and then you'd get caught in possession, or end up with someone like Paleassina making a kick... And then it was anyones guess where it was going! After a bit i just always ended up kicking on the 3rd/4th to ensure i actually got a kick away! It was fun to experiment with chip kicks, grubbers etc though. In comparison, i don't think its anymore difficult that the latest round of Fifa games which have skill moves, jostling, tricks etc all requiring an astronomical amount of button/stick combinations.

I am pleased about this, one thing I hope they do is the option to run a move, in Rugby 08 you could set up plays like drops offs, miss passes etc, hope the have this as it would make it much more enjoyable to play, they seem to have focussed on players getting muddier though.

glad to hear there is a decent career mode. the old one was the same team in the same season was rubbish but signing coaching staff, sposners and players over 10 years sounds good

Also Sam might be on the front of the English Version instead of a Stains player like last time

Rugby League 2 was a game i liked although found way too easy. Even on legendary there were ways of winning matches 160-0, 40/20's were a doddle to get you out of trouble.

Rugby League Live was hugely disappointing in my eyes, it lost so much functionality like the ability to make your own players and edit teams etc. The graphics if anything aswell seemed like a step back from rugby league 2.

However, i have played their "rugby union" offering for the xbox which is the jonah lomu game (not made directly by big ant but overseen by True Blu games and will be the base engine they use), and it suffers from many of the same issues but is more enjoyable so maybe with a bit extra work would probably make a very good game.

Either way i will probably buy it.

I hope they will put Challenge cup in career mode so then if i'm facing a championship side I can try out other players like Gelling,Hughes,Crosby ext and aso it would be another cup to compete so hopefully then we'd have wembly on the game.I also want squad numbers for super league instead of every match instead of just having 1 to 17.
Bring back the biff!!!!!
