It's ok saying they need to be right and they shouldn't do this and that BUT what have they done all season, train hard at 120% what they need is a blow out and a breather because we look tired and anybody worth their salt knows rest is as important as training. Providing it is only a 1 off it wont do them any harm!
I would be happier if the players were lying on a beach somewhere recharging their batteries. I do however agree that they need to unwind as they have been worked too hard recently. We don't look like a champion team at the moment but a refreshing break may change that. I hope that Waney has also decided to reduce the physical workload when they retun.

Whether that was the intention or not the responses are interesting.

For me alcohol and pro sport do not go together particularly if drunk to excess.

I think it is really old fashioned to think RL players can get blasted on the beer at any time during the season never mind the business end.

Alcohol decreases muscle recovery so its daft to go on a binge after a game. The dehydration you get after a binge(which can actually take up to a week to get over properly) makes you much more susceptible to cramp, strains and pulled muscles and can also decrease muscle mass. It also impairs your reaction time for up to several days after you drink to excess.

So even if they have two weeks off if Wane does has he says and trains them hard they are at increased risk of injury and won't be able to train as effectively.

I thought with Bitcom leading the physical training aspect and talk of monitoring players and the like sports science was a big thing with Wigan. Not if the players get blasted it isn't so in that sense I hope we do have troll present!

Simple solution. Up and under. Which players? And Which pub?

I don't think he's a troll. I don't think it looks good myself but it won't harm us either. The players are entitled to a social life, Christ nows it's a Rugby Club at the end of the day!
I see what Upandunder means but at the same time I'm also jealous I wasn't with them.

to be honest i did have my morning head on going to work which probably made what i saw anger me more than it should have, and i can also appreciate what everyone else thinks about it all but i still stick with my first impression of it didnt look good on the players or on the club. and i dont see what naming players or pubs would acheive really.
Imagine if it was some premiership footballers that had done the same thing, it would be all over the papers stating how they should be role models and not be doing that sort of thing etc etc.

Not sure what signing up to the forum and posting the incident has achieved so you may as well go the whole hog and post the pub at the very least. Just out of interest which area of Wigan was it in sleepy head?

Alcohol post match will increase the recovery time by 20% more than is normally needed meaning you will be 20% less prepared for the next game, if the next game is the week after. The fact the team has around 14 days before next game it will do them no harm.

But I bet Finchy was there! Birthday celebrations.
