Re: KR v Warriors
Not to decry our performance but I seem to remember Nigel Woods before this round commenting how even Superleague was this season and how it was much tighter and not only Wigan had blow out scores, does anyone at Redhall know what they are talking about??

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

@PhilWilkWIG on Hull KR v Wigan: "A whirlwind resembling a touch rugby match between New Zealand & New Springs"

I picked that up as well! A few years ago I had an exchange of letters with The Fat Controller on a similar vein. Looks like he didn't learn.josie andrews wrote:Surely you know the answer to that by nowian.birchall wrote:Not to decry our performance but I seem to remember Nigel Woods before this round commenting how even Superleague was this season and how it was much tighter and not only Wigan had blow out scores, does anyone at Redhall know what they are talking about??
Re: KR v Warriors
We're seeing a situation where there are plenty of very close games and plenty of games with a wide margin. Its like teams sort of give up once they are three scores dwon with 20 to go. But, equally we're seeing plenty of 'upset' results, which has compressed the league table somewhat. Wigan have so far won the games they should win and had close games in the others. Other teams have lost the games they should win. I think, statistically, when Wood said what he said, it was the closest league table from top to bottom that it had ever been after that many Super League rounds. Can't criticise him for bigging that up, there are plenty of others around ready to say the negatives about the sport so should he not give a positive soundbite. I'm not an RFL apologist, there are lots of things Wood and his cronies could/should have done differently or addressed by now, but what he said had some factual basis at the time.BriH wrote:I picked that up as well! And if I'm not your cup of tea....then their are alternative commentaries always available.

Bilko - I heard you on your debut - common sense and a knowledge of the game prevailed, stick with and well done.

Re: KR v Warriors
Blowout scorelines don’t do game any favours. - By Sam Tomkins
Wigan winning 84-6 at Hull KR on Easter Monday was not good for Super League.
We definitely don’t want to see these kind of scorelines.
It’s all about healthy competition and high standards.
I know you can only play what is in front of you but Rovers were possibly beaten long before they even took the field.
We heard their Aussie coach Craig Sandercock claiming before the game he did not agree with the two-match holiday fixture list.
You get on with what you are given.
This kind of thinking obviously filtered though to the players hence the 15-try win for us.
It was an easy runaway win. I am not knocking Sandercock – he is entitled to his opinion but his comments were in stark contrast to how the Wigan boss Shaun Wane was viewing the situation.
Shaun is always fired up and he loves to raise the bar.
The Wigan philosophy at this stage of the season is to prepare for the Easter programme the week before and we work in a four-match block.
How we go is determined what we do in the game before Easter and also the one at the end of it which is Wakefield at home on Sunday.
Shaun as ever was so positive and hungry going into Easter.
We have a great record over the Easter period and it’s down to careful planning.
We do not need such big blowout scorelines because they do not do anyone any real favours.
Blake Green certainly enjoyed his return to Humberside with a fine performance against his former club. Blake is a quality player who is getting better and better. He has quickly bought into the Wigan way of doing things and is proving so influential.
He has been so effective in the middle of the field.
Blake has taken over the mantle of Tommy Leuluai and really impressed. We can safely say he is an already an adopted Wiganer just like Pat Richards.
Young Dom Crosby stepped up to the mark as we beat St Helens on Good Friday. He is yet another good, young and willing lad who has come through the system.
He took his chance with both hands and will remember this game for the rest of his life no doubt. He had a big impact and is one to look out for.
The fine form of hooker Micky McIlorum also continues – he is one of the toughest players in the competition.
I am so glad he is on my side. He is like the late, great Terry Newton when it comes to the vital trait of controlled aggression.
Micky’s style can determine the outcome of a game in the first 30 minutes. He is so tough, effective and influential. I rate him highly – he is the ideal man to face the Aussies.
Personally speaking, I am still working hard on my own form and enjoy it at full-back. This has become a settled role for me by now and it is an influential position in the modern game. I still feel I can play in the halves if needed there.
Having played there from being a kid, I am sure the challenge to operate there again would be exciting if it was to happen.
Right now though as a team, Wigan are where we want to be but will continue to aim high.

Is this a message for recruiters? Maybe for the Gold Coast, as they already have their full back in Zillman..."josie andrews"
