Tomkins back for Warriors

Post by josie andrews »

Wigan Warriors full-back Sam Tomkins will return for Friday's top-of-the-table Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants at the DW Stadium.

The Warriors' star man was forced to miss last week's hard-fought win over Hull KR with a virus.

It was only the third time Wigan had won in 11 games without the much-coveted 24-year-old, spread over the past two seasons.

Coach Shaun Wane hopes to be close to full strength for the eagerly-anticipated Giants contest with captain Sean O'Loughlin and prop Ben Flower expected to overcome knocks.

Wane said: "Sam is good. He had a bit of food poisoning, a 24-hour bug. It was just bad timing.

"We have got a few little knocks and bruises that we'll need to check on.

"It'll be late on that I select my team - which is quite common.

"It is just that stage of the season - 20-odd rounds when you get week-in, week-out knocks."

Huddersfield have a one-point lead over Wigan and Warrington Wolves at the top in a tight battle for the League Leaders' Shield.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

What do you base your opinion on?

A genuine reason for his absence v. HKR.

IF he does go, that's when we'll start missing him.

It helps if you do when you come out with comments like that or you are the one who ends up looking like a knob!

Given various positive comments about how Sam conducts himself off-field with fans, kids and basically anyone who he deals with the last thing he comes across as is a knob.

So did he kill your cat or something?
