So Sat & Sun was too complicated for these fools, there is a very good chance I'll miss the semis now because I'm working. All my spare holidays have been used up :(

Playing Play Off games on a Thursday is wrong and has only been introduced by Sky to accommodate other sports, especially football.

So it'll be Leeds or Saints then. Warrington will surely select Huddersfield.

Wolves facing toughest ever ClubCall

Warrington Wolves will sit down this week to consider their options for Week 3 of the Super League play-offs and are facing "the toughest decision in the history of ClubCall", according to RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood.

The Wolves took a significant step towards the Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon with a 40-20 victory over Leeds Rhinos in a reverse of last year's Grand Final result and secured the right to select their opponents in the last round of the play-offs.

In a system unique in British sport, ClubCall allows the highest ranked winners from the opening week of the play-offs to choose who they play in their next match for the right to grace the Grand Final on Saturday October 5 (6.00pm).

Warrington will announce their decision on Sunday at a special ClubCall event that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports News at high noon.

"I would like to congratulate all the clubs who have progressed to the second week of what has all the makings of the most intriguing Super League play-off series we have ever witnessed," said Wood.

"Warrington and Wigan merit special mention, the Wolves for what I'm sure will be a deeply satisfactory win against the defending champions, and the Warriors for toppling the 2013 League Leaders.

"Both clubs have a hard-earned weekend off and it now falls to Warrington to choose who they play in two weeks' time. In many ways this is going to be the toughest decision in the history of ClubCall."

Warrington will choose from the winners of this week's preliminary semi-finals, Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC on Thursday September 19 and Leeds Rhinos v St Helens on Friday September 20.

In the last two seasons the club that has been ClubCalled, Leeds Rhinos, have used their selection as extra motivation to go on and be crowned champions. Having finished the regular seasons in fifth position in both 2011 and 2012, Leeds were ClubCalled by Warrington and then again by Wigan Warriors the following year.

This week's Super League preliminary semi-finals schedule is as follows:

Thursday September 19: Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC (8.00pm) - winners to ClubCall, losers eliminated

Friday September 20: Leeds Rhinos v St Helens (8.00pm) - winners to ClubCall, losers eliminated

Sunday September 22: Super League ClubCall (12.00).

The schedule for Week 3 of the 2013 Super League play-offs is:

Thursday September 26: Warrington Wolves v ClubCalled preliminary semi-final winner (8.00pm) - winners to Grand Final, losers eliminated

Friday September 27: Wigan Warriors v Non-ClubCalled preliminary semi-final winner (8.00pm) - winners to Grand Final, losers eliminated

All four play-offs will be televised live on Sky Sports, who will also screen in full the 2013 Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Saturday October 5.

Match tickets for the Wolves Qualifying Semi-Final on Thursday 26th are on sale now with 2013 Wolves Season Ticket Holders having until 12pm Wednesday 18th September to reserve their seats. Click here for full details.

Smith has said he won't take part in club call and will toss a coin.

If he picked Hudds he'd certainly be taking part in club call as that would be a deliberate choice not to pick the team finishing lowest in the league which is I think what has happened every season so far and is how coaches have claimed they aren't really choosing anyone.

This assumes Hull don't win because if they did he could pick them and still claim he just picked the team finishing lowest in the league and so didn't actively participate in club-call.

Be interesting to see if Hudds win if he does toss a coin and the coin toss favours Hudds anyway. Or if Hull win he can't find a coin to toss!

If it goes to form and Smith picks on league position as opposed to tossing a coin we'd be playing Hudds again at the DW.

Thats one way to look at it. The other way is to think would we ratehr have our high profile games on a night of their own rather than competing with the more popular Premier League? Yes the move accomodates football, but it also puts it on at a time when people will not be watching football instead.

Football is top dog, we have to compete to get the best airtime available outside of when it dominates things. A lot of footballers and football journalists were tweeting about the game on Thursday night, a game they wouldn't have been watching if it was on a Saturday tea time up against a premier league match thats for sure.
